Piti Español

Piti Español has been writing scripts for television programmes and series since 1984, principally for TV3 and TVE. He has also written telefilms and film scripts (La vida de nadieOtros días vendránThe Pelayos, ¡Atraco! and Cerca de tu casa) and has published an autobiographical tale, a book of short stories and several books on television and cinema.
Mans quietes!, his first play, won the Ciutat d’Alzira Prize for Theatre (2009) and premiered in Catalan in Valencia. In Spanish it has completed a season in Madrid and has toured in different production formats around the Dominican Republic, the USA and Mexico.
He is also the author of Badalona, la mar d’històries, of the family musical Un cau de mil secrets (together with musician Joan Vives) and of the cantatas 50 milions de segons, Cantàvia and … I no em venien a buscar!. With musician Albert Guinovart he wrote the cantata Mobília for the Cantiga choir.
For several yeras he was a television critic for Catalunya Ràdio and since 1995 he has taught script and dialogues at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra de Barcelona.
