A homosexual university teacher who is suffering from an incurable disease has written an essay on inheritance. He has a student capable of understanding complex literary texts, who is a prostitute and has left the teacher’s best friend’s daughter pregnant. The teacher doesn’t get the student’s way of understanding life but decides to make him his intellectual heir. He wants to believe that, in an unthinkable future, our descendants will find out the meaning of human pain.
