Gerard Vázquez

Playwright, scriptwriter and director. He trained as a playwright at courses taught by José Sanchis Sinisterra, at the Sala Beckett in Barcelona. He has premiered several theatrical adaptations such as La strada by Federico Fellini (1999), Un riure en la foscor by Vladimir Nabokov (2000), Bartleby by Herman Melville (2005) and various of his own plays, including among others: Cançons d’Alabama (1998), Cansalada Cancel·lada (1999, SGAE Theatre Prize 1995), El somriure del guanyador (2002, Ciutat d’Alcoi Prize for Theatre of 2001), Numbert (2004), Broc gros (2004), Uuuuh! (2005, Butaca Prize for the best theatrical text of 2006 and runner-up of the Max Prize for the Performing Arts 2007, premiered at the Teatre Nacional de Catalunya within the T6 project) and Quid pro quo (2008). He has obtained other prizes for theatre such as the El Born Prize for Theatre 1997 for his play Magma, the Crèdit Andorra 50th Anniversary Prize of 2002, the “Serra d’Or” Critics Prize of 2004 for the best text for the work El retratista, and the Recull Prize for Theatre of 2004 for the play Quid pro quo. He is co-author of the film script for El pallasso i el Führer (2007), produced by Benecé and Televisió de Catalunya, and based on his theatrical work Uuuuh!
